Names I almost want a fourth child for

Suddenly she was there. A girl that had been waited for so long. I had high expectations of the name, because father and mother are creative, stylish, and ahead of their time. And yes, they succeeded. I was immediately broody. Not only because of the squinted little eyes that cautiously looked out into the world from under the pink bonnet, but also because of the name. Since I don't know if the parents would appreciate me throwing their newborn's name out into the world, I hide it in my list. The list of names so beautiful that you immediately want to flush your pill strip down the toilet.

1. Nimuë

How beautiful is Nimuë? Almost as beautiful as the model who bears the name. Because Nimuë Smit is a top model from the Netherlands. It's nice if your little one carries the name of someone who can be a role model.

2. Harper

I expected more Harpers after Victoria Beckham named her fourth child (and first daughter, it seems she followed a special diet to increase the chances of a pink crib) Harper. Credit where credit is due; I worked at Marie Claire with editor Jonna whose daughter was already named Harper long before that other Harper. Compliments, Jonna. I thought it was already super cool back then.

3. Victoire

Admittedly, you put quite a burden on a child when you give her the term ‘victory’. A former colleague of mine named his son Hero. That's tough, you know, if you then don't dare to go down the slide. But still; Victoire. How poetic. And then shorten it to Vic.

“If your name is Hero, it's tough if you don't dare to go down the slide. Allegra was at the top of my list, but was vetoed by my beloved.”

4. Allegra

Was at the top of my list when I was pregnant with my third, but was vetoed by my beloved. If I had been Italian: so be it. He found it too Mediterranean for a Dutch girl, and there is certainly some merit to that. Although I didn't admit that, you understand. But how wonderful must it be to carry the name ‘cheerful’ and ‘joy’. And only three Allegra's were born last year, so the chance that there is another one in the class is much smaller than with Anna. Although that is also my favorite, but that has also to do with this to make.

5. Parker

For boys and for girls, although this name is much more common for boys. But how cool is it if your daughter carries this resounding name? It is really hardly ever used for girls in the Netherlands, so you are definitely original and ahead of your time.

6. Morgane

French, so please pronounce it the French way (Mor-ghaan). It means ‘stays by the sea’ and that seems to me a wonderful life goal. And you already have the French ‘je ne sais quoi’ with your birth. And you are again unique, because almost no one dares to take on this name.

Well dear friends, feeling broody? Then you know what you have to do now. And especially not this read, because then it will all go wrong again.
