The love for Manchester
Joe good morning. Don’t hate me, I’m starting Tuesday with a mega cliché: music brings people together. No wait, I need to phrase this better: music unites people – sorry, but it sounds a bit stronger in English. And it happened again in Manchester. After the hellish event two weeks ago where 22 victims fell, Ariana Grande wanted to give something back. And she took it on a grand scale.
You may have seen everything about it yesterday, but I still want to talk about the most beautiful and special moments of the benefit concert organized for the victims of Manchester.
– Did you know that Ariana made sure that everyone who was at her Manchester concert on May 22 received free tickets to be able to attend? This girl is golden.
– In just three hours, the concert had already raised over 2 million pounds for the victims of the terrorist attack.
– And that 2 million pounds is added to the 10 million pounds that has already been raised in total for the ‘We Love Manchester’ emergency fund.
– And then the show: what a good group Ariana had gathered. Chris Martin from Coldplay was there, giving goosebumps with the song ‘Fix You’ and ‘Live Forever’ which he sang together with Liam Gallagher, the man from Oasis (who by the way was also mega pissed that his brother wasn’t there, in case you wanted to know).
– Perhaps the most powerful performance of the concert if you ask me: Ariana singing ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ by Oasis together with Chris Martin. And everyone sang along with them, you know. I’m telling you: this will give you so many feels.
– Katy Perry once again gave a beautiful performance, but the most special thing she did was wear a dress that had all the photos of the victims from May 22 on it.
– ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams, who doesn’t know it? Amazing. And then his song ’Strong‘ came up, and if you were paying attention, you would have heard that he adjusted his lyrics especially for Manchester: ’Manchester, we’re strong, we’re strong, we’re strong, we’re still singing our song…‘
And also a round of applause for his Bieber sweater by the way.
– Speaking of Bieber; he was also there with an acoustic version of his song ‘Cold Water’.
– Enter: The Black Eyed Peas. Without Fergie, but with Ariana. They sang ‘Where Is the Love?’. Well, that love was definitely to be found in Manchester.
– And then a very notable mention: Miley and Ariana. Ariana and Miley. Girl crush squared. They sang together ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ by Crowded House. I never want to hear the original version again.
Okay, you know what? If for some crazy reason you haven’t seen it yet, you’re going to do that right now. Yes, even if you’re at work. Music is good for you, believe me, and your boss won’t mind:
