Already the favorite to win an Oscar
March 4 is when it will finally happen, but all the buzz around which films can or cannot win an Oscar this year is already starting. And particularly one name you often come across. can win an Oscar I saw the trailer last week when I ended up in Amsterdam at The Movies for the film The Square (different, but definitely a recommendation), but it will only be in Dutch Pathé cinemas from January. Make a note of it: Call Me By Your Name.
The story is about Elio who lives with his family in Northern Italy Italy. In the summer of 1983, the American student Oliver, played by Armie Hammer, temporarily moves in with them, and although there is an age difference between the two boys, something blossoms and they fall in love, experiencing the most unforgettable summer. After receiving rave reviews following its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, followed by a screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, the predictions are promising: this film will likely receive not one, but multiple nominations at the biggest movie night awards of the year.
It is predicted that actor Timothée Chalamet (who plays the role of Elio) will most likely be nominated for Best Actor. Armie Hammer could very well end up on the nominees list for Best Supporting Actor, but also Michael Stuhlbarg (who plays Elio's father). And then there's director Luca Guadagnino, who is so praised for his work that Best Director could also be an option. Will they also secure a nomination and an award for Best Movie?
Anyways, from January in the cinema. I want to see this, I want to see this.
