In Devocion we get coffee with hearts in it. Fortunately, we manage to conquer a spot in this coffee place just in time, also known as the always crowded office of Williamsburg, where everyone consistently sits typing for hours with a laptop and coffee with hearts. Today is the second cup for Jane, my dearest friend from the west coast. Together with her husband, they come to admire our new house, discover Brooklyn, and celebrate her birthday. But first, work needs to be done. With coffee with hearts and our laptops. This is how we would always like to sit. Our friendship started decades ago, but after high school, we never lived in the same city again. So pretending to live together in New York is a party. Only that weather, huh... Because the sun may be shining, don't be deceived by the rays. It is still ice-cold. I, along with all of New York, am totally disturbed by it and am still impatiently waiting for spring...
My dearest mom was here last weekend. Together we went to fix our dresses. Mine was altered, mom's was bought. At Alice + Olivia, we succeeded for mom. At the boutique, we managed (after some sweating) to determine the right length, and Amy, the seamstress, went at it with scissors. I broke out in a sweat, but it went well. Upon returning home, I, of course, had to try on mom's dress, and yes, that will definitely go into my closet very quickly after Italy.
Macarons and coffee at Whoops! in Williamsburg. Another spot that has been renamed as a workplace. Only this time with macarons...
The streets of Soho are still snowy, so unfortunately, we can't have lunch in the garden of Crosby Street Hotel. However, we do get a table by the window and the sun warms us up. Lunching here is amazing. Recently, Olivia Palermo's husband sat next to me. You understand that Liesbeth immediately received the paparazzi photos (which I secretly took from behind the vase while pretending to be on the phone).
Uptown doesn't have many nice coffee spots. It quickly becomes big-bigger-biggest and is fully geared towards tourists on their way to Central Park. Except for the almost secret coffee bar of Ralph Lauren on Fifth. And since we had to go to Schutz, mom and I, of course, made a pit stop there. I absolutely did not inherit my caffeine with whipped milk addiction from a stranger...
Back in the hood! Flatiron and Eataly, I miss them. Of course, Brooklyn is nice, but this is where our adventure began, this is where I walked with Blue when he was just born, and this is where we ate at least once a week with our Italian neighbors at Eataly. Today we are back for a change. Ah, how nice. We also eat at Eataly as usual. The only thing missing is our woolly child and the sun. The only cheerful thing about the weather is my flower top. Are you already tired of my whining?
