WHY ALCOHOL IS HEALTHY
Actually, it's all Ludo and Janine's fault. GTST, yes. I grew up with them and every evening I saw them so happily enjoying a little glass of red on the couch that I thought: I need to do this too.
The treacherous thing about Mrs. Alcohol: once she's in your life, she rolls out her sleeping mat and probably sticks around for a while. Alcohol is emotion. If I have a good conversation, I suddenly crave a glass of red or white cheerfulness. If there's something to celebrate, my right hand screams for a champagne flute, and a little rapido please. While dancing, the preference shifts to a gin and tonic. You feel me? Nice. Then this news is for you.
Alcohol is actually not so bad for you at all. I already knew that, I just needed to get the science behind it. But here it comes: recent research published in The Times shows that moderate alcohol drinkers (no more than one and a half bottles of wine per week, a.k.a. people like me) have a lower chance of developing heart and vascular diseases compared to people who never drink or drink too much. You understand that I suddenly feel very addressed in a positive way.
For the study, the medical records of nearly two million people were examined. Holy moly. Do you hear that? The middle group has it best sorted out here. Drinkers like me seem to have fewer problems with circulation caused by a buildup of fat in the arteries. I'm totally zoned out and only hear: both that glass of wine with dinner and less fat. Time for, uh, champagne then? It's the weekend after all! What now?
