PEELING AND SHELLING
Recipes with pomegranate, I prefer to avoid them. Why? Not because I don't like them, but have you ever tried to peel those things? It's just impossible. And once the pomegranate operation is finally completed, you're stuck with red claws for the rest of the day. Thank you.
But did you know there's a trick for everything? Because don't think I leave avocados sitting on the shelves. I just have a trick for that. Pineapple? No problem; I'll peel, slice, and pit it for you. I have a few tips & tricks for you.
Avocado
1. Cut the avocado in half.
2. Poke the pit with the tip of your knife and gently pull it out.
3. Hold the avocado (don't press too hard) and cut the flesh into cubes.
4. Scoop the flesh out with a spoon.
Pineapple
1. Place the pineapple on a cutting board and start by cutting off the top.
2. Next, cut off the ‘bottom’ of the pineapple. Once you've done this, the pineapple will stand upright.
3. Cut the skin off from top to bottom.
4. Continue this until the entire skin of the pineapple is cut off.
5. Cut the pineapple into quarters.
6. Remove the core and cut the pineapple into pieces.
“But did you know there's a trick for everything?”
Pomegranate
1. Cut off the ends of the pomegranate with a sharp knife and score the fruit vertically on six sides.
2. Fill a large bowl with warm water and gently pull the sections apart.
3. Carefully place them in the water and sort of pull the seeds away from the flesh.
4. The bad seeds and loose membranes will float to the top and the rest will sink to the bottom.
5. Remove the seeds with a spatula from the water.
Grapefruit
1. Cut the fruit in half and then slice it into wedges from the inside or outside.
2. First, remove the skin.
3. Then cut nice wedges out between the membranes.
But why make it difficult? Just take a spoon (and don't forget the towel).
Mango
1. First, check if the fruit is ripe. You do this by gently pressing it. Does it give? Then it's time to cut.
3. Cut the mango into three pieces, just along the pit.
4. Then cut the flesh horizontally and vertically.
5. Bend the skin back and cut the cubes out.
Did you know that the pit is also good for your skin? So don't throw it away right away, scrub your face with it and only then toss it in the trash.
