SECRET TOOLS OF THE M.A.C MAKE-UP ARTIST

Yesterday was a memorable day. Yes, Amayzine on paper was in stores. Yes, it was the evening of the Look of the Year Awards. No, that's not what I mean at all. I received my very first post at the editorial office. Now you might think: big deal. But it’s quite an event here when the bell rings and it turns out to be the mailman. Mr. Mailman usually makes a straight line to our editor in chief May's desk, but this time he veered off. For me. For me? FROM M.A.C. Guys, FROM M.A.C COSMETICS. You understand, I did a dance with the box.

What was inside? The secret weapons of the senior make-up artist at Amsterdam Fashion Week. And when you take a look at all the beauty stepping onto the catwalk, you want to know just one thing: how? M.A.C Cosmetics is, by the way, the creative force behind all the make-up looks at every designer you will see this weekend. And your editors get to snoop around backstage exclusively. Simone already has a plan to extract the models' workout routines. Kiki is going to subject Edwin Oudshoorn to an interrogation. Lilian and May have pretty much all the shows on the agenda. And Elke, I think they accidentally push her onto the catwalk themselves. But first and foremost, and most importantly, you will see the secret tools of the senior make-up artist from M.A.C Cosmetics.

“You understand, I did a dance with the box.”

Here’s what’s in the make-up artist's kit:

1. A Lightful Moisture Cream for the best base. To design a beautiful look on those pretty faces, you need to nourish and protect the skin, of course.

2. The Fluidline Pen, in retro black. I’m going to hide this really well from Kiki (our majesty in eyeliners). Because now I seriously have a chance to create such a perfect wing above the eye myself. The pen gives a sharp, not too thin and especially not too thick line and is smudge-proof.

3. The Instacurl Lash. Do you prefer the brush of your mascara straight? This one is for you. Or does it need to be nicely curled? Then you’re also good. The lash from M.A.C Cosmetics has an ingenious system that gives the brush the perfect curve for the desired lash effect. And I haven’t even mentioned the looks of the casing; a work of art in itself.

4. The Liptensity Lipstick smells nice, so it gets bonus points. This beauty for the lips has exactly the texture you’re looking for. And the color, because it looks natural on the lips, but it dresses up just a bit more.

5. The Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation has a factor and a dropper. Feels super light, provides coverage, and blends beautifully with your skin tone.

6. And to freshen up those pale faces a bit, you use the Powder Blush. Lightly applied, and you have the right blush for a winter day.

7. The Strobe Cream. This is what you really want. When all the glow is gone from the skin, the Strobe Cream provides a glow that makes it look like you just came back from a spa after three weeks.

8. And because Fashion Week really demands something from your skin, M.A.C Cosmetics has rescue products. A lip conditioner to restore the delicate skin and a fast response eye cream to tackle dark circles.

Oh, and do you want to know how to incorporate the beauty trends from the catwalk into your daily make-up routine? Next week, the make-up artist from M.A.C will come by our editorial office to show that. I would say: stay tuned.
