Little things that make you intensely happy
I have been in an extremely happy mood for a few days now. Here's the thing: tomorrow is finally August. You should know: this is my favorite month. On the twelfth, it's my birthday, and I can officially count down to Lowlands what I am incredibly looking forward to. If you make me happy with something, it's live performances from my favorite artists. I mean, Mumford & Sons, Iggy Pop, The xx, Editors… This kid is a happy one. A really really happy one. But don't think that it's only these kinds of things that put a big fat smile on my face. Here are 25 little things in life that make you intensely happy:
- Sleeping in a bed that has just been changed. Especially when it smells like Robijn's Zwitsal fabric softener.
- Skinny dipping. No joke, go skinny dipping once.
- The very first sip of a well-filled cold glass of white wine on a warm summer day.
- When you discover new artists who are not overplayed on the radio so that you don't want to listen to them anymore afterwards.
- Messages in the morning from your loved one wishing you a nice day.
- And also messages before going to sleep.
- Golden hour.
- Waking up very early and realizing you can still sleep for a few more hours #winning.
- Putting on clothes that just came out of the dryer.
- Having a good hair day without having to put in any effort.
- Opening a jar of pickles in one go.
- Having time to finish a book.
- Bubble wrap.
- When you want to throw a piece of paper into the trash from a distance, and you actually succeed.
- When your crush likes your photo on Instagram. Insta is the new Tinder, right?
- When concert tickets sell out within a minute but you are one of the lucky few who managed to score tickets.
- When you think you have run out of clean underwear (because: no time to do laundry) and you still find a clean pair in a drawer.
- When you turn on Spotify on a Monday and you Discover Weekly only get to enjoy great music.
- The crab emoji. Don't ask me why.
- New Instagramaccounts on his Instagram.
- Seeing an elderly couple walking down the street still completely in love with each other.
- When someone you were supposed to meet cancels and you are secretly happy about it because you were in the mood for a night of couch surfing with Netflix.
- Going to a museum that is not overcrowded.
- When you buy something and it turns out to be on sale as well. The opposite of this, you could say.
- And finally: the perfect cup of coffee made by my dear Simone.
Do you want to know what May is very happy about? The best part is: they are all free and for nothing.
