This way your sunburn is gone immediately

There is nothing worse than those red burning spots on your back, buttocks, or cheeks after a lovely day in the sun. The world just isn't fair that way. Because even if you slather yourself with buckets of sunscreen and are convinced that you've covered your entire body at least three times, there is always that one spot with that bright red glow. And it just burns and burns and burns until the skin eventually hangs off. Ugh, so much pain. And when you've once again dealt with that sunburn, you want nothing more than to get rid of it immediately. How do you do that? Like this:

1. Get out of the sun.

I understand that you're on vacation, that the sun in the Netherlands doesn't shine that nicely, and that you want to enjoy it to the fullest. We all get that. But that just can't happen right now. Come on, into the shade with you. Investing in a nice big hat can also help. Just make sure those red spots of yours don't see a single ray of sunshine.

2. Avoid hot water

Hot water causes your skin to dry out. That nice warm shower at the end of the day? Trade it in for a cold bath. You can also forget about scrubbing and shaving for a few days. Instead, use some soothing aftersun or body lotion.

3. Ice cubes

Yes, you heard me right: ice cubes. In a towel. On your burned skin. It doesn't have to be for long, just five minutes at a time and a few times a day. It's not as bad as it sounds, really. Cool off during breakfast, at lunch, and in the evening with that glass of wine. Works perfectly.

4. Water, lots of water

Just as you need to avoid hot water, you should drink more water. The more water you drink, the better. Your burned skin is dehydrated, and by drinking more water, it hydrates a bit faster. Sounds pretty logical, right?

5. Tight clothes

Don't wear tight clothes. Grab those nice flared pants and that loose top from your suitcase. Or that wide long dress, that works too. Clothes that are too tight rub against your skin, causing it to become irritated more quickly.

6. Take your time

Even though it seems like your skin looks better after a day in the shade, don't jump back into the sun right away. It actually takes a few days for it to fully recover. So sit back in the shade with a delicious cocktail and a really cool hat. That way, you'll also look Instagrammable.
