SUSHI FANS ATTENTION…

A SUSHI festival is coming and Kiek is going loco

Konnichiwa, my friends! My prayers have been answered. I swear it. As the ultimate lover of Japanese rice rolls, chopstick expert, wasabi pro, and sashimi devourer, I have been hoping for a party like this for years. And now it just pops up in my inbox.

Do you have anything to do this weekend? Then I suggest you head towards my hometown Uutje. Why? The new sushi festival JOY is taking place this weekend (May 5 to 7) at the Lucasbolwerk. Okay, I'm getting a bit of a short circuit in my head. You should know that I once literally got out of bed at half past one at night when my sister arrived with my favorite sushi. That I have to eat fresh fish on rice at least once a week, otherwise I can't function normally. I even dedicated a whole article to the 12 things that a true sushi connoisseur must know. And now I just receive a press release about. A. Sushi. Festival.

What can you expect from JOY? Think of dozens of outdoor restaurants and food trucks with crispy sushi and sashimi. My goodness. Seaweed bites, dim sum, poke bowls, yakitori, and crunchy tempura. I'm getting hungry. Japanese poffertjes on colorful decorated plates and in sizzling steam baskets. I have to go here. And of course sushi workshops. A karaoke hotel made of containers. Lanterns and colorful Japanese umbrellas. Relaxation massages, a DJ booth to end the evening dancing; the whole shebang. STOP WITH ME. And the best part? Admission is for free. You only pay €2.50 for your festival glass upon entry so the area stays a bit clean. Seems like a great deal.

God guys, I have no shares, but can I PLEASE sign up somewhere as a JOY sushi ambassador? And then I'm also celebrating my birthday on May 6. So, uh, three guesses where I'll be this weekend… If you want to congratulate me: Utrecht's Tokyo is where you need to be. Sayounara! (a.k.a. lataaaah!)

P.S.: If you can't come to Utrecht from May 5 to 7, festival JOY will move to Westerbroekpark in The Hague from June 9 to 11.
