The perfect shade of foundation for your skin
And all of that through an app
The last thing you want when it comes to foundation is to walk around with the wrong color. Too light or too dark: not hot. It has even happened that I by a ‘professional’ was sold the wrong color (do you get the quotation marks now? Someone didn’t do their job right) and when that’s a jar costing a few tens of euros, you’re obviously quite upset. The key is just good lighting and someone who really knows what they’re doing.
But apparently it can also be done nowadays through an app to make it all a bit easier (or so they say). Familiar with the brand bareMinerals? Unfortunately not available in the Netherlands, at least not yet, but they launched the app bareMinerals MADE-2-FIT last June, where users can find a foundation color that exactly matches their own skin tone through a series of steps.
It is linked to a ‘custom blending technology’, which results in an endless number of color combinations, meaning that everyone should be able to use it. There are a few steps before you have a final result, but fortunately, there is a clear instructional video that helps you with this process. Tip: make sure you have some white paper lying around, because you will need it. Something to do with calibrating the camera on your phone. After that, it’s quite simple and you need to move your phone camera along different parts of your face to find the right color, et voilà. If all goes well, you should be able to have a custom-mixed foundation delivered within 24 hours.
I’m still a bit skeptical, because come on, how well can a camera on a phone really analyze your skin? But if you want to give it a try, I say: book a trip to The States. Will you send me a review afterwards?
