The summer blockbusters

All the new movies coming up

Because the weather in the Netherlands always has a mind of its own, it's of course handy to have a backup plan. You know, just in case another downpour comes instead of real summer weather. Luckily, we still have the people in Hollywood who take good care of us when it comes to entertainment, because there are again quite a few big budget films on the way for the summer months. So, do you have a date night but don't feel like chilling under an umbrella in the rain? Here is where you’re going to:

Dunkirk

Director Christopher Nolan is back. And how! After all his hits with Batman, Inception, and Interstellar, he is coming this summer with a new war film. This film revolves around the story of Operation Dynamo, an evacuation of allies on the beach of Dunkirk. If I'm not mistaken, there are even scenes for this film shot in the Netherlands. Which actors will be seen this time in Nolan's (most likely) hit? Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and for all you One Direction fans: Harry Styles makes his acting debut here. In theaters from July 20.

It

If you ask me which movie I find the creepiest, then it is definitely the movie It, the adaptation of the book by Stephen King from 1990. I still remember very well that I watched this during sleepovers with girlfriends when we were quite young. I had sleepless nights because of it and a phobia of clowns. Well, that same It is coming back in September. Do you think you can handle it?

Baywatch

But then without Hasselhoff and Anderson. A bit weird, and honestly: the trailer looks a bit mediocre. However, if you feel like sexy half-naked bodies (hello, Zac Efron!) running on a beach, then this is where you need to be from June 1.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge

The whole gang is back together! I’ve lost count a bit when it comes to the number of films of this kind that have been made, I believe I got stuck somewhere after the third. Johnny Depp still couldn't let go of his character Jack Sparrow and that's why we can all rush to the cinema again from May 25, because Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are back too.

Wonder Woman: Rise of the Warrior

Finally, a badass female superhero. Gal Gadot, you are incredibly beautiful and cool and gorgeous. And then you also have Chris Pine who plays in this. Sigh. He is also high on my list of crushes. June 15 ladies, then you can see that female superheroes are even cooler than The Avengers.

Transformers: The Last Knight

Just like Pirates of the Caribbean, these films just keep coming. We already said goodbye to Shia LaBeouf as the main character a few films ago, but Mark Wahlberg is still here. Together with Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, and Crosshairs.

Snatched

Going on vacation with your mother to a tropical paradise doesn't sound too bad, right? But if you're Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn, it turns out very differently... A nice tip for Mother's Day because it has been in theaters since yesterday.
