The tastiest ice coffee you make yourself

Iced coffee. We've been calling for it here in the editorial office for weeks, but we are already a thousand warm days further and I haven't seen a glass yet. Why, no one knows, because it's just as easy as pressing the button on the Nespresso machine. So guys, who will walk to Hema, Appie, or Blokker this afternoon? Then I'll treat you to a glass of ice-cold coffee tomorrow.
1. Base
- Ice cube tray
- Coffee
- Take an ice cube tray.
- Make a few cups of strong espresso.
- Fill the tray and then put it in the freezer.
2. Milk
- Take the tray out of the freezer.
- Put one or two ice cubes in your glass and top off with milk of your choice. I personally prefer unsweetened almond milk or coconut rice milk. If you can drink dairy without worry, then whole milk is of course the tastiest.
- Do you have a milk frother from Nespresso? Then you can also top your coffee with cold milk foam for an ice latte.
3. Sweet
- Do you like it sweet? Sweeten your coffee with a splash of maple, agave, or a bit of cane sugar.
And for Team Snack at my table:
4. Salted caramel ice coffee
You can make your iced coffee as luxurious as you want, so do you want a real ice coffee like only Starbucks makes? Then top your iced coffee with a good amount of whipped cream and a swirl of caramel. And yes, you can of course make that yourself. How? Like this:
- Pour a little water (125 ml) into a pan with a thick bottom.
- Sprinkle 200 grams of sugar in the middle of the pan and heat it until the sugar is dissolved. Then turn the heat up high so that the sugar turns brown. This takes about 20 minutes. Important: DO NOT stir.
- Remove the pan from the heat.
- Heat 125 ml of whipped cream in another pan until it just doesn't boil.
- Then gently stir the whipped cream into the sugar mixture until it becomes a smooth sauce.
- Finally, add a little salt.
