These are the hottest cities on Instagram of 2017
#packyourbagthen
I can't help it. The moment I step off the plane, I start filming, posting, and hashtagging like a runaway horse. Because yes, admit it: abroad everything is always just a bit more photogenic than at home. Curious which cities are most often captured? So is Instagram. And so they published the annual overview looking at which places and hashtags are the most popular. Behold the most photographed cities on this planet. And, we immediately pulled up our own Instagrams, you get that.
10. Barcelona, Spain
The photogenic Parc Güell, the vibrant nightlife, the magical and picturesque squares, and the almost indescribable relaxation of this city: Barcelona is a typical could-I-live-here city.
9. Istanbul, Turkey
Istanbul, it sounds so Eastern and is surprisingly close. The Hagia Sophia is often seen as the symbol of this city on the Bosphorus, and the Blue Mosque (or Sultan Ahmed Mosque) with its 6 minarets is truly Instagrammable.
8. Jakarta, Indonesia
A magical metropolis that you just have to see once. Start in Jakarta and then head to the beach.
7. Saint Petersburg, Russia
Russia is of course the only country that shines twice in the top ten. I mean: is this Disneyland or not?
6. Los Angeles, United States
Palm trees, the Hollywood sign, Santa Monica Beach, the Walk of Fame: LA has it all. I was there two years ago with my best friend and goodness, so many pictures were taken.
5. Paris, France
Hmm, in my mind Paris was actually in the top 3... A bit of a bummer. Didn't this city invent beauty in the first place?
4. São Paulo, Brazil
Did you know that São Paulo is the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere? With hundreds of skyscrapers and a skyline that will blow your mind? So, when are we going?
3. London, United Kingdom
We discovered during Fashion Week: London has tons of nice walls. And the Big Ben shot is of course a classic.
2. Moscow, Russia
Now I regret that I've never been there (still on that bucket list), but May was there last month, so if you're curious: read here what she learned about this Russian city.
1. New York, United States
I can only say one thing about it: Totally. Agree. It almost became annoying, but I think I had to take a photo somewhere in New York every three steps.
