This is how you keep mosquitoes out

With bags under my eyes, I walked into the editorial office this morning. Whether I had a rough night was asked at the Nespresso machine . You bet I did. Wild even. It kept me awake for hours. First subtly and softly, later with a bit more force. Sneaking in through the back door that I had left open while the light was still on. I must disappoint you, girlfriend. I had no unexpected visit from some handsome guy. It was a mosquito. A terror mosquito. And good luck finding that one. Something like finding a needle in a humongous haystack. And I don't know what I find worse: the buzzing or the eternal search for the little beast itself. To keep the misery at bay, you can choose to fill your house with citronella candles, but believe me, that's not very good for your body. These home, garden, and kitchen tips are a bit healthier and one hundred percent natural.

1. Rosemary

Delicious in your pasta or over the baby potatoes with butter from the oven. We love it, mosquitoes not at all. If you place a sprig of it in your house or next to your bed, you won't be bothered by buzzing anymore.

2. Mint

With these sprigs, you can also keep the terror beasts outside. Rub some leaves between your hands or place some sprigs next to your bed. Not only smells great, but also ensures a better night's sleep.

3. Lavender

Lavender works wonderfully relaxing for us, the mosquito gets a bit more stressed from it. Pick a bunch from the neighbors or apply a body lotion based on this fragrant flower.

4. Lemongrass

The fresh scent of lemongrass is nice for people and apparently intensely annoying for mosquitoes. You can plant lemongrass, but it's easier to buy fresh lemongrass at the Asian store or supermarket. A few sprigs in your bedroom and the rest just delicious in your curry.

5. Catnip

Cats get high from it, mosquitoes fall to the ground. Research has shown that catnip is ten times more effective against mosquitoes than DEET.

6. Lemon oil

A bit old-fashioned, but very effective. You can apply a few drops of lemon oil to your skin, but you can also mix some drops with water and put them together in an oil burner. The heat spreads the scent throughout the room and helps to repel mosquitoes.

7. Garlic

Garlic is healthy, makes all your dishes tastier and it repels mosquitoes. Double winning then. So throw in another clove into your tomato sauce tonight.
