This is how you eat your apple the healthiest
So I can never again bite carelessly into my tart juicy apple. Normally, I just wipe it along my sleeve or quickly rinse it under the tap. But what turns out? According to American researchers, this is far from enough to remove all pesticides from your fruit .
Just wiping it along that sleeve or tea towel only removes dust or dirt, but not the chemicals that still stick to it. Holding your piece of fruit under the tap is unfortunately also insufficient to wash away toxins, according to researchers at the University of Massachusetts. This study appeared in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
Of all types of fruit, there are the most pesticides on the apple. It is such a low dose that it is not dangerous, but because the long-term impact on health cannot yet be fully assessed, American researchers still point to the presence of toxins on the skin of our apple. The best method to clean your apple from now on is to let it soak for ten minutes in water with a pinch of baking soda or sodium bicarbonate. Too cumbersome? You can of course also just slice your apple, but then you peel away the vitamins.
Hmmm... How about the dishwasher then?
