This is the best travel news ever
Hey travel junkies among us, grab your calendar. Look up June 15, 2017, and put a VERY big circle around it. A cake if necessary, because it's a celebration. Why? This is the day that all roaming charges within Europe will be a thing of the past. Yes, you heard it right.
Goodbye sky-high phone bills and hello freedom to use your phone normally during a city trip without having to panic and turn the roaming button on/off/on every second. And perhaps more importantly: never again be shocked by an enormous phone, SMS, and internet bill upon returning home. Gosh, I would spontaneously want to book a new trip.. Dear people, do you know what this means for our upcoming vacations?!
1. Posting that nice photo on Insta whenever you want.
You just walk by that handsome fountain in Rome, and you have no wifi. Which means you often secretly waited all day to post something on social media in the evening upon arrival at the hotel. That won't be necessary anymore, my friends.
2. DJing in the car will be amazing.
Because honestly, wasn't it always incredibly annoying that you had to bring those CDs and MP3 players on a road trip? Now you can just stream via Spotify. Can you believe it?
3. Endless calls with your bestie/lover/Mom.
Without having to hang up quickly before it all becomes way too expensive. In fact: that quarter of an hour of video calling can happen every evening, if you feel like it.
4. Hello empty hotel lobbies.
Because we all know: in the lobby you have the really good wifi reception. The result: half the hotel is sitting at the reception in the evening staring at their phone or tablet. If anything looks stupid + stingy Dutch, it's that.
5. Maps are a thing of the past.
Yes, yes, something with nostalgia and the ultimate road trip, https://amayzine.com/nl/2017/paris-roadtrip-met-renault/, I know, but that map can also be quite a terror. One way or another: the thing is always upside down. That map eventually gets full of tears and is barely readable. And folding it is also a hassle. What we will all start doing from July? Using navigation apps. How chill is it that you can always use Google Maps?
6. Something with Netflix in the hotel room.
Live from your TV. Did I already say this was the best news ever?
Okay, just one tiny little nagging point in general: vacation is vacation, right? Especially enjoy the freedom of roaming, but do so in moderation. And let that phone also just relax in the hotel room where it can, deal?
