THIS IS THE MOST POPULAR EYE MAKEUP ACCORDING TO PINTEREST

Spoiler alert: the smokey eye as we have known it for years is so last season. And yippie-ki-yay, I honestly admit: I am glad about it. For years I have been fiddling with it. A smokey eye meant for me a standard blue-eye lookalike. Even though I knew all the YouTube tutorials almost word for word, brush by brush by heart. I couldn't get it right. Nothing came of it. Except for wasting my own time for hours to then go out again disappointed with bare eyelids.

But this season everything is different. All the trends to make our eyes on fleek are so delightfully simple. So, without further ado, here they are: the eye makeup trends of the moment. Specially from our daily source of inspiration Pinterest.

Pink eyeshadow

Spotted on the runway at Marc Jacobs, Emilio de la Morena, and Tadashi Shoji. So it's not surprising that this trend is taking over all Pinterest boards worldwide. Pink suits every eye color and is wonderfully feminine. For this trend, a few extra layers of mascara are welcome for the best effect.

Glitter, baby

Anyone who thinks glitter is a thing from a long, long past (something like ‘I rocked it at the school party in elementary school’) is very mistaken. It is totally okay to take that glitter out of your dusty pre-carnival-and-Halloween makeup box. The search term ‘glitter eye’ has risen on Pinterest by 1561%. And, don't be afraid to be a daredevil: glitter is not only popular on your eyelids. No, your eyebrows and eyelashes are also open for business. So hello there, glitter bombs, I am a fan!

Sunset eyeshadow

Okay, I take it back. Not all trends are equally easy this season. Whoever can replicate this is a next-level makeup queen. But this is the trend with the highest increase in search percentage with a smashing 2851%. And as I said: the smokey eye as we knew it is a thing of the past. We are all going for a more summery look. An eyeshadow with a ‘sunset palette’. Who needs the beautiful, warm weather for the perfect sunset? Not us in the Netherlands.

And do you need some Pinterest inspiration to complete your look, then read this for a moment. Oh, and this too.
