Body & Mind

This is the skinny version of your favorite

Okay girlfriends, shoot me down. I'm still recovering from this quite shocking news on this almost spring-like Friday morning. Our southern neighbors (who love jamón, sangria, and the fat-soaked sugary churros) have invented something new to help us get rid of those extra summer pounds. And it's in the form of an avocado. A light avocado. I repeat: a LIGHT avocado. The Spanish brand Isla Bonita has managed to produce the fatty green fruit in such a way that it contains no less than 30% less fat than a normal avocado. But that's not all. The avo is said to ripen faster, brown less quickly, and thus have a lower fat percentage. The diet version is milder and juicier in flesh and therefore perfect for your smoothie.

According to the creator of the skinny avocado, the fat content in avocados prevented people from choosing the fruit. He hopes that with the new version, people will reach for the green little ones more quickly. For now, the diet avocado is only available in Spain, and if you ask me, it should stay there. Shame.
