THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO ON LIBERATION DAY

Every year, Liberation Day is reserved for just one thing: my besties birthday. Pretty easy actually, because then you never have the problem: what the hell are we going to do? The only thing we mainly focus on is the question of what we are going to eat; madam always wants something healthy and I am extremely team snack, cake, and all things sweet on her birthday.

Anyhow… You survived King's Day, with miserable weather and all. Now it's time to plan your next party and this is what’s happening in the Netherlands on May 5th:

Amsterdam

The Free West
Looking for a free party? Head to Westerpark. You'll hear music from, among others, De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Gallowstreet, and The Cool Quest. There are plenty of snacks and drinks available, you can even speed date with veterans and there are old vehicles from World War II to check out.

The Amsterdam Alliance

This might be the most popular party in the capital (and rightfully so). Feeling like dancing? Here you’ll find the best DJs from popular parties like Vunzige Deuntjes, Yours Truly, and parties at the Chicago Social Club. Where do you need to be? Sports park de Eendracht, and if you want to go here, be quick, because they are almost out of tickets!

Music Monday: Liberation Day

It's Music Monday and that means another list of great songs to get through this day. And since today is Liberation Day, there should be a bit of dancing.

Free Land

Okay, I just talked about one of the most popular parties in the capital, but this one is giving it a run for its money. Another highlight to go to on May 5th is Vrijland in Blijburg aan Zee. And if you’re not partied out by 11 PM, you can head straight to the afterparty at nightclub Claire on Rembrandtplein.

Haarlem

Liberation Pop

Hey, Douwe Bob fans! If you want to see this bad boy up close, head to Haarlem on May 5th. He will be performing here, along with Spinvis, Gregor Salto, and many others. Free of charge.

Meanwhile on Insta DOUWE BOB SLEEPS THROUGH NEW YEAR'S TRANSITION. So, have you recovered a bit from the whole New Year's spectacle? I uh, half, let’s say …

The Hague

Liberation Festival

Oh oh The Hague, what do you have in store for us this year? Once again, the popular Liberation Festival at Malieveld with Pleun, the winner of The Voice, Diggy Dex, and many artists of whom I must honestly admit I have no idea who they are, but hey, in the oh so cozy The Hague, it can never go wrong.

Utrecht

Fluff Disco Freedom Festival

Utrecht was in the mood for something new, so this year there is for the first time an alternative to the annual Liberation Festival in Transwijk (also fun by the way). At Strand Oog In Al, you will find Dio, Phalerieau, and Def Rhymz for the new Fluff Disco Freedom Festival. A unique name, but worth visiting.
