This was the coolest party of the summer
And these 8 things you can learn from it
Normally, I'm not so keen on work-related weekend outings, but here we were talking about Moët & Chandon. And the Amstel Hotel. And an international summer party where in 80 countries the average number of champagne bottles emptied was significantly increased. Did you know that somewhere in the world a bottle of Moët pops open every second? (Here by the way, I have some other fun champagne facts.) Well, this weekend was every nanosecond, I can tell you. Anyway, it was quite the party and I'm going to tell you what you can casually take from it.
1. Stick to champagne
How delightful and straightforward to serve only champagne. We could choose from rosé and ‘white’ champagne and, if you like, a light cocktail. Nothing more. So much clearer and you can simply mix different bottles together. No ‘every wine has its own character’ nonsense. The quality of every bottle of Moët is constant, so mixing is allowed. And how chic is that? How wonderfully chic? Do you want to know how to taste and drink champagne? Read here maar even.
2. But alternate with a coconut
If you're just tipping flutes in the blazing sun, before you know it, you're dozing off in a corner. Moreover, you can't force all your guests to drink alcohol. Enter: the coconut. Pure, perfect against hangovers and impending drunkenness, and very photogenic too. Jet is a fan of it, she once wrote about it. here It's really fun when you give them a branding mark with, for example, your company's logo, or the names of the bride and groom or whatever. But make it your own, like here with Moët & Chandon.
3. Give hats
If you have a party in the sun, provide some cooling. How fun if there's a sun hat on your guest's chair. It would be even more fun (if you had time and money left) to tie a customized ribbon around it. And while you're at it, put out some sunscreen.
4. Arrange a boat
A boat is always the most fun. At the Moët party, there was a superb sloop from Brandkuip. A Dutch brand, so definitely fun, but nice and quite reasonably priced. And just sailing back and forth over the Amstel. I did my name as captain's daughter proud.
5. Sprinkle sand
If there's sand at your party, it's instantly summer. Pour some bags of sand and you'll see that shoes come off and everyone immediately shifts into a tropical and relaxed mode.
6. And sprinkle flamingos
Inflatable flamingos, foldable flamingos, painted flamingos; anything goes. As long as they're pink and big. Instant summer.
7. Inflatables are the best
Lifebuoys with Moët logos in inflatable form. Great for photo moments and ideal if someone unexpectedly falls overboard.
8. Finish it off with a knockout
If you think you've covered everything and your guests have been pampered from head to toe, you come around the corner with a killer performance. In the case of Moët, at the end of the party, a woman on water jets came along who did some flips over the Amstel. Just going a bit beyond expectations so that everyone is buzzing and talking about it for weeks...
