Top series about Jackie Kennedy
Hey Jackie, you’re so fine, you’re so fine, you blow my mind. Hey Jackie, hey hey, hey Jackie. Oh wait, I think I’m singing it completely wrong now. But oh well, it’s Jackie week, so I’m just adjusting all the lyrics for her. May has already seen it, but I’m itching to watch the latest movie about Jackie Kennedy. Starting this Thursday, it’s finally in theaters. Are you also completely captivated by this former First Lady of the United States? Here are more series and movies worth watching.
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy
Actress Jaclyn Smith steps into the shoes of Jackie for the TV movie about the former FLOTUS (First Lady of the United States). It’s a biography focused on the years she worked as an ‘Inquiring Camera Girl’ for the newspapers and the years she first met John Kennedy. Awarded a Golden Globe nomination, this is definitely a film to add to your must-see Jackie O list.
A woman named Jackie
This was an American miniseries (as they call it) from 1991 based on the book of the same name, written by C. David Heymann. With a total of three episodes, all dedicated to different times in her life: The Bouvier Years, The Kennedy Years and The Onassis Years. Awarded an Emmy for ‘Outstanding Miniseries’ and featuring Sarah Michelle Gellar as young Jackie, before she broke through with her vampire hit show ‘Buffy the
Vampire Slayer’.
Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot
This revolves, as the title suggests, around the three main Kennedy women, or The Women of Camelot. From Joan's alcoholism to the secretive scenes of Ethel, the wife of Robert Kennedy.
May has already seen it, but I’m itching to watch the latest movie about Jackie Kennedy
Grey Gardens
This documentary follows the life of Jackie Kennedy's aunt and cousin; Edith Ewing Beale and Edith Bouvier Beale. These two lived together and were known as Jackie’s somewhat eccentric relatives. By the way, there’s also an HBO movie made about this with Drew Barrymore as one of the Edies (as they were called) and Jeanne Tripplehorn in the role of Jackie.
The Butler
Look, you might remember this movie with among others Oprah Winfrey, Robin Williams, Forest Whitaker, and Minka Kelly as Jackie Kennedy. It’s about the butler of the White House, Cecil Gaines, during the era when Martin Luther King was assassinated in America. Okay, it’s hardly about Jackie, but you want to see this one.
Killing Kennedy
Hey look, a thriller in this list. Killing Kennedy is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard. Watch the trailer here
The Kennedy’s
Once again a miniseries about the tragic life of one of the most popular presidential families in America. This time with Katie Holmes as Jackie O, and may I say that I think this might be her best gig ever? There are also rumors that a sequel is coming. I’ll keep you posted…
