Warm drink for on the couch
The winter and I don't have a good relationship. This is mainly because I am always, yes ALWAYS, cold, my cheeks are getting paler by the day and it feels to me that it is only light outside at the moments when I am sitting inside behind my laptop. And so I can still type a whole A4 page. What I do enjoy about these dark months are the moments inside. Candles lit, the flame in the fireplace and then with my duvet on the couch with my book on the left and a warm drink on the right.
Do you have a binge weekend ahead and is that coffee shop too far around the corner for you? You can easily make these four warm delights yourself. These drinks are so delicious that it could almost, ALMOST yes, be winter forever.
1. Speculoos latte with leftover pepernoten
- 1 tbsp speculoos
- 200 ml whole milk (or plant-based milk of your choice)
- 1 espresso shot (or a double)
- whipped cream
- spiced nuts
1. Put a spoonful of speculoos in a tall glass.
2. Froth the milk and add it to the glass.
3. Pour the espresso into the milk.
4. Top with whipped cream and chopped pepernoten.
2. Bounty in a glass
- 175 ml whole milk
- 75 ml coconut cream
- 75 grams milk chocolate
- whipped cream
- grated coconut
- piece of grated dark chocolate or dark sprinkles
1. Heat the milk together with the coconut milk in a saucepan.
2. Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie.
3. Pour the milk into a tall glass and add the melted chocolate.
4. Top with whipped cream, coconut flakes, and shaved dark chocolate.
3. White chocolate mocha
- 200 ml whole milk
- handful of chopped white chocolate (and a little extra for garnish)
- 1 espresso shot
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
1. Froth the milk and brew the coffee.
2. Chop the white chocolate finely and put it together with the vanilla in a tall glass.
3. Pour the warm milk over the chocolate and add the coffee.
4. Top with whipped cream and white chocolate.
4. Warm almond hot chocolate with coconut cream
- 250 ml almond milk
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 can of coconut milk
- grated dark chocolate
- cinnamon
1. Place the can of coconut milk in the refrigerator for at least one night. This way, the coconut fat separates from the liquid.
2. The next morning, scoop out the top (hard) part from the can.
3. Whip the coconut until smooth and set aside.
4. Heat the almond milk together with the cocoa and cinnamon.
5. Pour the almond milk into a deep glass and scoop the coconut cream on top.
6. Garnish with grated dark chocolate.
