Which vegetables and fruits you should or should not eat organic
Organic food is on the rise. But if you want to fill your basket with only organic products, make sure you have a thick wallet. It's quite expensive; you know it, I know it. And since it's almost impossible to buy all vegetables and fruits organically, it's handy to know which types currently contain the most pesticides. I came across a study and find it useful to know what you should or shouldn't buy organic.
These vegetables and fruits contain the most pesticides and you better buy them organic:
- apples
- peaches
- nectarines
- strawberries
- grapes
- celery
- spinach
- bell peppers
- cucumber
- cherry tomatoes
- sugar snaps
- potatoes
The Environmental Working Group tested no less than 50 different types of vegetables and fruits that have been sprayed, but that you really don't necessarily have to buy organic:
- avocado
- corn cobs
- pineapple
- green cabbage
- frozen peas
- onions
- asparagus
- mangoes
- papaya
- kiwi
- eggplant
- sugar melon
- grapefruit
- cantaloupe melon
- cauliflower
