WHY YOU SHOULD PARTY AT LEAST ONCE WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES
They often say that it's not wise to get drunk with your colleagues. But I beg to differ. At least, if you work at Amayzine, I think it's just a must, because after the Magnum party we attended last week (party of the year, just look here, our group of editors has become even closer. Even after the most embarrassing activities – I may have given Kiek a private lap dance (you secretly liked it, right, Kiek?) – we can only talk about how fun it was and that we should do this more often. Okay, okay, I don't think it will ever happen again that the Conservatorium Hotel gets rented out and we get to stay overnight, but a drink (or twenty), we will keep that in. And here's why:
Everything is negotiable
As I just mentioned; no shame. Men and sex are obviously often topic number one, but after a few glasses of wine (or in our case champagne and tequila shots) you become more emotional and serious topics also come up. You see the vulnerable side of your colleagues that you don't usually experience in the workplace, and this way you learn to appreciate each other even more.
Outside of work hours
How nice is it that you can have so much fun with your colleagues outside of work? Now, it's always a party at our editorial office, but this is really something different. Out of the work comfort zone, now you can let loose, dance, flirt, the whole shebang. You also get to see how the rest is on a night out. That's how I found out that when it comes to dancing, our sales director Daan and I are exactly the same. Empty stage? We have to get on that. Seize our moment. A couple of minutes (or hours) of fame. #sorrynotsorry and extremely fun.
The favor factor
That increases after such a night. In our team, that is, I understand that it might be very different at other companies. We often get to go to cool places and events for our work, and you want that for each other. A week in Thailand? Super fun for Kiki. A few days in Africa? Super cool for Simoon. The next paradisiacal destination? We all want that for each other and there's no one trying to hog it all.
You make girlfriends
If you happen to work with only girls. Amayzine is already quite a close-knit group of friends, but now we have genuinely become family.
You see each other at your worst
Alright, this isn't always the case, but because we all stayed overnight at the Conservatorium Hotel, it also meant having breakfast together the next morning. With a hangover. Very charming.
It's good for your abs
We laughed so intensely, a little ab workout is nothing compared to that.
So ladies, when's the next time?
