With these three essentials you create the best basic makeup
Good morning friends. I would like to take you through my daily makeup routine. By that, I mean the basics that I apply to my face to look a bit presentable. I'm the type that prefers to walk out the door bare-faced, so if you dive into my makeup bag, you'll quickly run out of options. I personally really enjoy the products from MAC Cosmetics, to which I donated half of my monthly income during my previous life (when I spent half of my time in the US). That time is over, but fortunately, my essentials are now also available in the Netherlands.
These are the three products I can't live without:
1. MAC Studio Face and Body
I always find the search for a good foundation quite a challenge. I don't like thick layers of foundation that barely let my skin breathe, but I do want a light coverage to cover up short nights or blemishes. When I was sitting in the chair at one of MAC's makeup gurus during Amsterdam Fashion Week, I was told that I actually didn't need any foundation at all. Just before I wanted to propose to him, he added: ‘But do you use an eye cream?’ Okay, that message hit home, and hard. That proposal disappeared like snow in the sun. Mr. MAC conjured a glow on my face in no time. Since then, the MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation has a special place on my bathroom shelf and I don't want anything else.
Why?
– Au naturel
An absolute plus is that this foundation gives a very natural look. It is a liquid foundation based on water and therefore provides a very light coverage. It makes my face more even and allows my skin to continue breathing.
– Go with the glow
The foundation gives a very light glow to your face. No shimmer, glitter, or greasy haze, but a natural radiance that makes your skin look healthy.
– Mix & match
You can endlessly mix & match with this foundation. It is available in no less than thirteen different skin tone shades. The colors starting with a C represent cool tones, the colors starting with the letter N represent neutral/warm skin, and as if that wasn't enough, there is also a color white. So if your skin tone doesn't exactly match the available shades or for example is lighter in winter than in summer (which is very normal), you can mix different colors until you have an exact match with your own skin tone.
2. MAC Mineralize Concealer
Well, the message about that eye cream hit hard, you understand. So nowadays I use the Mineralize Concealer to magically cover souvenirs under my eyes.
MAC Studio Finish Concealer works with the color codes NC and NW when it comes to foundation and concealer. The cool tones are indicated with NW (‘not warm’), which is suitable for people with a pink undertone. The warm tones are indicated with NC (‘not cool’) and are suitable for people with a yellow undertone.
3. MAC Studio Finish Concealer
The Studio Finish is one of the best-selling concealers that MAC has in its range. I understand why, because this concealer is known for its strong coverage. Fortunately, I don't often have issues with blemishes, but if a huge one does appear on my chin, I can make it disappear in no time with a dab of Studio Finish. Touching up halfway through the day is unnecessary. The concealer lasts for hours and is very economical to use. A must-have!
