You are what you are called

And, what name did your papa and mama give you when they put you on this globe? I was baptized Adeline. And in the case of a boyish occurrence, it would have been Bram. I know, I'm also particularly in glory with my girlhood. When I think of the name Adeline, I still think of ‘Ballade pour Adeline’, but hey, I also aspire to be Parisienne (not succeeding even a millimeter).

It’s all in a name, they say sometimes? Well, apparently that’s really true. You apparently adapt to your name. Huh? I just threw this statement at the editorial team, but I’m not really getting any traction with this theory. Elke is being renamed Heather as we speak (and pretty much all the other names from The Bold), Lilian is becoming Nina (she really wants this by the way), May has to settle for Isabel, Simone is a Kate in the making and I’m going out into the world as Fleur. Okay, okay.

‘Everyone thinks Lilian is more of a Lil and me more of an Eeeeedelain.’

But back to the research, because you obviously want to know everything about that. Researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem had a group of people find the right name for a face. And what turned out? They significantly more often chose the right name. Look, I find that interesting. The condition of this testing is that you come from the same country, because otherwise you’re going to fail at choosing. That’s also true, because I assigned a completely different name to the male face in the photo than it actually was. So that’s hereby substantiated.

By the way, if you got a nickname from your squad, it might just be that the people around you don’t think your real name fits you. That claim is indeed true, because everyone thinks Lilian is more of a Lil and me more of an Eeeeedelain. And… what about your name?
