4x why you should go away during the autumn break
The autumn holiday is a week that I often let pass me by. You still had the summer holiday, so to speak, on your hips, and gathering chestnuts and making autumn tables is also really cozy. But during the Christmas holiday, I actually want to be at home, and the spring holiday (why do they even call it that, it falls in February, it's still winter) is not really for me because I prefer to sunbathe rather than ski, and before you know it, a holiday-less half year has gone by. And so we went this year. In the autumn holiday. And I think that's a celebration, and here's why.
1. The peace
In the summer, you always have to reserve and literally squeeze to get a spot, now you can park diagonally, the waiters are dancing when you've chosen their restaurant for lunch, and you don't have to feel guilty if your kids suddenly feel the need to imitate Dafne Schippers on the terrace.
2. The kitchen
It's so different in the autumn than in the summer. Truffle, nuts, patatine al forno (I'm an Italy recidivist), beautiful game meat... Tonight we are invited to friends' home who have a restaurant, so my expectations are high, you understand.
3. The outfits
In the summer, it's so hot that you'd prefer to frolic around all day in a thong, but now you can layer nicely. A nice sweater (in love with my Max Mara), a cardigan, a jacket, jeans: it can all be done.
4. The carts along the road
In the summer, they sell watermelons, now nuts, mandarins, and wood. Call me a sentimental fool, but I still find that romantic. Now to get that darn fireplace going tonight, and here writes a happy person.
