5 things you think about when you have a new car

I did something I said I would never do. A new car.

He, correction: she, had five kilometers on the clock when I drove through the glass door (it was open, don't worry) of the dealer. While driving (with the roof down because yes, I have that now and yes, the weather was nice) I thought of all those things that go through your mind when you have a new car.

Gender determination

Is it a he or is it a she? In other words: are we going to talk about her in the him or her form? Clearly in this case: a girl. Hello, she has the tag line ‘La Parisienne’. It can't get more feminine than that.

A name

I personally find it a bit showy to refer to your car by the brand. Moreover, your car is unique and so is your girlfriend. And a girlfriend has a name. We have had wild adventures with our first Twingo North. Well, my new girlfriend's passport name is Renault Twingo La Parisienne, but her nickname still had to be thought of. As it goes with names, it came about spontaneously. I had told Lilian where she was parked so Lil could wave at her and Lil came up with Twiggy. That Twiggy was so beautiful. Voilà, the name was there. Twiggy is petite like my little Twingo, she has class and style and is adventurous. It couldn't have fit better.

First page of your notebook

Daniëlle saw a photo of my daughter with the dog peeking through the open roof and noted that the first page of my notebook was now past. You know, that you always started your new notebook neatly and intended to keep it that way. I want to do that with Twiggy too. However, last night it was already filled with three girls and myself in the back seat (plus dog) and beloved behind the wheel (’great little car’, were his words) and my father-in-law in the passenger seat. You understand: she is not completely sparkly anymore, but then I will just book a spa visit for her this weekend.

The mileage

Also a little thing. That she has only driven 239 kilometers now, that she is on the highway for the first time, for the first time in Muiderberg, for the first time in our Pilotenstraat. Soon I will go with her to puppy training.

Worried

That you are going to park and prefer to park behind someone rather than next to them, because what if he swings his door open? Against Twíggy. That can't be right? That I would think about that. It's something.

In short, if you see someone zooming down the road a bit too cheerfully with the roof down; it could very well be Twiggy and me. Have a nice Easter weekend!
