7 Things You Think About When You See the Photos of Beatrix

Yesterday our princess Beatrix celebrated her birthday. And as it goes, nobility obliges after all, the princess does not receive a gift, but gives one to the people. In this case, even three. We were treated to three portraits. One of the princess herself with a dog, one of the princess with children and grandchildren, and one of the princess with grandchildren only. Wonderful. I just kept looking. And thought this, all at once.

There is only one grandson.

Claus-Casimir (son of princess Laurentien and prince Constantijn) is the only boy in the whole. By the way, I hope they call him CC or something, because Claus-Casimir, it's such a mouthful.

What a lovely girl Eloise is.

By the way, she is the oldest grandchild and the only one who has really experienced the late prince Claus, poor thing. But what a pretty, solid girl stands there.

What a wave of babies there has been.

Except for Ariane and Eloise, they are all between 11 and 12. It rained babies during that period.

Poor Mabel.

How would she feel on such a day? Truly welcome, but you do distance yourself a bit from them, I can imagine, living in London and without the man who was the connecting factor.

I almost forgot.

About Mabel. And Klaas Bruinsma. And that the government did not grant permission for the marriage. And that Zaria and Luana are therefore excluded from the line of succession. I had completely forgotten all of this, due to the sadness of Friso, actually all of it. And maybe that's for the best. Mabel was young and adventurous. A somewhat adventurous woman gets involved with the wrong man once, and Mabel has done enough for the world to show that she is a person ‘per bene’, as the Italians say.

Amalia's dress.

That is the fresh editorial dress from Amayzine. We have it in black, red, long and short. Amalia is not only our future queen, she is already a fashion queen.

Princesses in All Stars.

“Mom, those aren't shoes for princesses, are they?” More indignation could not have radiated from my daughter when she carefully looked at the photo. To be clear: I think it's good that the princesses lead as normal a life as possible, so with sneakers. But for an official photo next to your 80-year-old grandmother, I would have chosen something more classic. A point for improvement, but really the only one. The only one.
