8 items that make your home look more expensive
You really don't have to live in a mansion to get a luxurious feeling at home. Even a well-filled bank account is not always a must. You can also create a chic feeling on a low budget tour. With these eight items, you'll be there in no time.
1. Souvenir here
Whether it's a handmade cushion cover from India, a candle holder from a souk in Marrakech, or a poster you scored during a city trip: a souvenir is an experience and it makes your room look extra interesting, cool, and rich.
2. Drink cart
A vintage variant or dipped in gold à la Sissy-Boy; with a drink cart, you can really go all out. Invest in a few well-branded bottles of liquor combined with a set of beautiful whiskey glasses and a decanter, and you've got the perfect vibe.
3. Soap
From Marie-Stella-Maris, Meraki, or Aesop; a nice hand soap in the kitchen, toilet, or bathroom is a must. Preferably with a nice hand cream and a fluffy guest towel next to it to create the ultimate five-star feeling during your hand-washing moments.
4. Coffee table books
The kitchen island, your vintage find, the dining table, in the bedroom, or as an eye-catcher on the windowsill; a beautiful book matches everywhere in the house. It not only looks nice, but it also reflects who you are. Tom Ford, Chanel, or YSL; one is more beautiful than the other.
5. Mirrors
A mirror is a showpiece in the house. Go for a round shape in an extremely large size or for one in a mysteriously small size. Preferably in a luxurious material or color like wood or gold.
6. Door handle
I've never received so many compliments about my doors at home. All props for my matte black door handles; with a surprising detail like this, the doors look just a bit different than in other houses. Exclusive for a bargain.
7. Faucet
Actually, the same story as the door handle: go for something other than chrome. here why.
8. Fresh flowers
From now on, it's forbidden to go for the ready-made bouquet. From now on, you distribute your (field) flowers over different vases.
