Ten reasons why you want to go to Sardinia this summer
If you want guaranteed sun and don't want to travel too long to an exotic place: hello. We know where you should be.
Forget Bali and also forget Ibiza. Sardinia is the new hotspot for everyone who loves good food and trendy spots. And what do you know? You're there in no time. Within two hours, actually. Corendon has started selling holidays to the charming Italian island. Corendon Dutch Airlines will fly three times a week from mid-April to the end of October, just hop, from Schiphol to Alghero airport in the northwest of the island. And that just happens to be a fantastic harbor town. And do you find Schiphol a bit far because you live in the south of the country? No panic. You can also fly once a week from Maastricht to Sardinia with Corendon.
And look, if you don't know exactly where to be on the island, we do. Because in the beautifully located town of Castelsardo, you will find four four-star accommodations (such as Hotel Pedraladda, Bajaloglia Resort, and Castelsardo Resort Village) that work with Corendon. This way, you can book flight plus hotel in one. That's convenient. And Castelsardo is exactly as you imagine it in your head: a beautiful Italian landscape and a mountain with all colorful houses. And all that orange, yellow, and pink among all that fresh green will make you feel cheerful right away.
We have ten more great reasons for you why you definitely want to go to Sardinia:
- You drink the best Italian wines here that you can see ‘hanging’ at a wine tasting. For example, at Winery Cantina Panpariello.
- And drink the best Italian scroppinos in Alghero at Sardo Adivino.
- You eat fantastic Italian delicacies here like pulpo. Oh my god, you have to taste it.
- Visit the Grotta di Nettuno by boat – or the typical Neptune caves that absolutely belong to Sardinia. You can just walk through them. You definitely want to see this.
- For some seeing and being seen, you go to Porto Cervo, the chicest beach resort on the island. With Gucci and Chanel stores all over the place.
- Go touring on an electric bike. You can zip around the whole island and see things that you would definitely miss from the car.
- In Porto Rotondo, you will find the prettiest white beaches that you absolutely want to post fourteen times on your Instagram feed. Or fifteen times. The name of this place comes from the almost perfectly round bay. In the summer, you will find the most expensive yachts here, and you can also surf or snorkel wonderfully. Here you can also go to the Piazzetta San Marco square, where you can sip an Italian espresso in style. You can also take a photo of that, of course.
- Go to Cagliari. Why? Good reason: you can spot flamingos at Spiaggia del Poetto beach.
- For some pure nature, you go to the Costa Smeralda. Rocks like you can't see anywhere else. Still so unspoiled and absolutely not touristy: that's why Sardinia is a lot more relaxed than, for example, Mallorca, Ibiza, or Bali.
- Olbia is the liveliest city on the island. Lots of culture, many shops, and plenty of nice restaurants. You can shop wonderfully in the center of Corso Umberto. On the terraces, you often find live music in the summer. This way, you get completely into the holiday mood.
