Body & Mind

A little APK for your body

As soon as we feel a little pain or sting or the thermometer glows red, we take a paracetamol or we squeeze an extra bag of oranges. And if that headaches still doesn't go away, we reluctantly make an appointment with the doctor. Typical Dutch.

Lately, I've been wondering more often whether, with my full-time gym sessions, consuming kilos of vitamins, and getting enough sleep, I am really being healthy. My body may be bikini ready and my skin shines with health, but do I shine and glitter just as much on the inside?

More and more celebrities, models, and also have to give up a lot for their function. That's not sad. As long as you have an agent who guides you well in this and you are trying to live in the so-called ‘green zone’, which all has to do with your health where movement, proper nutrition, and stress management play an important role. You know: I love green, so I wanted to get into that green zone as well.

I reached out to the Holland Health Clinic that helps you get into the green zone and especially to stay in it. During a consultation with a doctor, five foundations are looked at: motivation, psyche, movement, medical tests, sleep and stress balance, and nutrition. Think of it as a little APK for your body. After a consultation and some homework, you ultimately get a complete picture of your health.

The report I received was more surprising than I expected. My zone was light green, but the perfectionist in me naturally wants to make it grass green. I thought that with my daily three liters of water and tea, I was so healthy that toxins would be removed from my body and that my routine was the reason for the healthy glow on my cheeks. However, my kidneys turned out to be a bit less happy with those liters of fresh ginger tea combined with all that exercise. There was nothing wrong with my vitamin D levels (in fact, I have it in abundance) and the plates of green food are doing their job well, because there was also nothing wrong with the B vitamins. But I should definitely reach for an apple more often. Less pounding, more resting. Less drinking, more eating. I've since given that Fitbit to Adeline and booked my first pilates class with May.

On to the green zone. A little APK for your body, when are you going?
