A star citizen for a bargain
Did you know that only 21% of the Dutch meet the recommended daily amount of vegetables of 250 grams? I'm shocked by that. I must say that I myself am an extreme green case, with my half a kilo of vitamins that I consume daily, but 21% of all of the Netherlands? Chef Moshik Roth of the Michelin-starred restaurant &moshik agrees with me and wants to change this. Starting this week, you can find the Tomeato Burger at Appie. A unique burger that tastes like a real burger but is made from tomato.
Does this sound familiar to you? It might. The meat substitute originated as an amuse in the 2-Michelin-star restaurant. Chef Moshik Roth developed the burger as a tribute to the classic American burger. “To get the Netherlands to embrace meat substitutes, we decided to place the Tomeato Burger on the supermarket shelves as well.” Thus spoke Moshik. The Tomeato Burger is primarily made from tomato and also contains beetroot, peas, corn, carrot, and onion, and is a source of fiber and protein. Especially for this signature burger, Moshik developed a delicious, matching sauce that is under the same little foil. A star burger for a bargain. I know what I'm making for dinner tonight. Who's coming to eat with me?
