Barbie speaks out for the first time in a video message

What a terrible thing has happened to Samantha de Jong. The poor reality star could no longer see a way out of life.

And that was a hot topic in the Netherlands, for a moment. At every coffee machine in our country, people were talking about her – also by those who barely know her from television or by those who actually always find her a bit over the top. We collectively felt sorry for her: 28 years old, mother of two small kids, and then wanting to end your life. The Hague Oh Oh Cherso participant was urgently hospitalized earlier this month. Now she is open for the first time about what has happened to her.

For the first time, she admits that she attempted suicide. Earlier, her family and management said it was about ‘excessive drug use’, now it is time for honesty towards the outside world. Barbie lets it be known that the tide has turned: “Despite everything, things are a bit better now. I have a lot of peace and I receive a lot of support from people.”

“All the lovely messages have done me a lot of good. I have received many lovely cards, flowers, you name it,” she says. “Here stands a completely new Barbie, a positive Barbie. Everything will be alright.”

It remains so sad what has happened. Where did her action come from? She explains: “Everywhere I read that I am a bad mother and playing the whore. I could no longer cope with that and at some point, I started to believe that my children might be better off without me.” Samantha is the mother of Angelina (5) and Milano (2). On that day, she took her kids to her mother and then all the misery began at home. She was in a slump from which she could not escape. How far must one go to think of something like that? It is unimaginable. And incredibly sad, not only for Samantha but also for her loved ones and her children. “I believed that I was a bad mother, that they were better off with their father. I was crying on the couch and really didn’t know anymore that morning,” Samantha says about the infamous day.

Samantha mutilated herself with a knife, she lets it be known. Then she panicked and called her aunt. “That was the last thing I did before I completely lost touch with reality. She had warned 112 and my mother. When she came rushing in and found me, she first thought I was already dead, I was as pale as a corpse.” Fortunately, she was able to receive help for her injuries in the hospital. She is now in a clinic to recover and is receiving good psychological help. And the fact that she is now speaking out in the media is definitely not for attention. She has a beautiful reason: “Just to warn other people about what I have done.” We wish you a lot of strength and love, Samantha.
