Black day for Máxima

This Thursday has a pitch-black edge, as it has been announced today that Queen Máxima's sister, Inés Zorreguieta, has passed away at the age of 33. She was found in her apartment in Buenos Aires. The suspicion is that she made the decision to take her own life. So soon after the death of her father, this is again a great sorrow for Queen Máxima, especially since her sister has been struggling with mental health issues for years, which loving family cannot remedy.

The queen's schedule is being adjusted so that she can spend time with her family and allow her grief to come to her in peace. We wish the queen all the strength and support, light a candle for Inés, and hope that she has found her peace.
