Marion Pauw's book list does extremely well at Christmas
Suddenly I saw Marion Pauw among my unread emails. That can mean two things. 1) It's time for wine. 2) There are new books on the market that we need to read from her. It was 3: a bit of both. But Marion's reading list comes just in time, with all those bearded men and their suits. Marion updates you on the five books from 2018 that you want to read.
My Story – Michelle Obama
Personal and candid book from our favorite first lady. Quote: ‘My husband came to bed grumpy.’ Look, that's what we want to read, that stuff. – Hollands Diep
Does Snow Hurt – Caroline Spaans
Caroline lost her husband in a skiing accident and wrote a brilliant book about it. Although it deals with a sad subject, this JAN columnist is at times hilarious. She talks about her relationship, her neuroses, the grieving process, but also about her cautious steps in the dating world. One of the most beautiful books of the past year. – Lebowski
Idaho – Emily Ruskovich
I find it incomprehensible why this book has not become a huge bestseller in the Netherlands. In America, this debut went through the roof. Ann and Wade live in the inhospitable North Idaho. She tries to uncover what happened in his previous marriage: his ex-wife murdered one of their daughters and since then the other daughter has disappeared. So beautifully written with great attention to detail. – Atlas Contact
’t Hooge Nest – Roxane van Iperen
Roxane moved to a beautiful old house in the woods near Naarden and discovered an impressive history. During World War II, this was one of the largest hiding addresses in the Netherlands. The enthusiasm of the author leaps off the pages.
Multigroove – Arne van Terphoven
True story of Ilja Reiman who organized illegal house parties in the late eighties and thus made dance music big. You won't believe what you're reading: drugs, hedonism, and cat-and-mouse games with the police. Your husband will also be happy with this book, it reads like a train. – Mary Go Wild
