‘Written on my body’

We've already been here for a week in beautiful Italy, but only for the past two days have I been able to fully be in the here and now. That phone was stuck to my hand a bit more than I expected, so it was definitely time for an iPhone detox. Now our location helps a lot, and we barely have reception here in the mountains, which is why that phone has been on silent mode for days. Through a friend, I got the tip to download the app ‘Moment’, which tracks exactly how long you stare at your phone screen . I warn you in advance: it’s quite confronting, but it’s never too late to change your bad habits.

For those who, like me, thought that with a little vacation you’re only glued to a patch of grass or a beach chair: we have proven the opposite by now. On day two, I already started itching to set up a little hike in our surroundings, and completely clueless, I went out with my Artipoppe baby carrier plus Otis in it. If I had known in advance what kind of narrow paths (with cliffs on both sides) we would end up on, I might have hesitated a bit longer. But when we finally arrived at a beautiful private waterfall in the middle of nowhere, the climb was more than worth it.

In a few weeks, we will be performing our ‘Female Rappers’ show at Lowlands. Two years ago, we were there too, and the adrenaline afterwards was huge: I can't wait to match that feeling again. Of course, we will stay the whole weekend to watch performances ourselves and try out some dancing. For anyone heading that way that weekend: on Saturday afternoon, you can find us in the Juliet tent!

Some time ago, I had the honor of posing for Frank E Hollywood, which I find a huge honor: his paintings have a lot in common with a classic Vermeer combined with a bold statement about today’s society. The theme was ‘Luxury Overdose’, and that is truly written on my body. The result is really beautiful. And let’s just say we saved a spot on the wall for a nice piece of art.
