Everything went differently than she thought

During my baby shower, I received a beautiful book as a gift in which I can record all of Otis's first steps. Now I always intend to actually fill in such a book, but unfortunately, there are too many journals that have been kept for a week and half-complete photo albums in my closet. So I swore that this time I would really complete the book. The result: a month later, I was sitting with a newborn hand in special ink to capture Otis's handprint for the ’baby hand/footprint‘ page. The print turned out so beautiful that I wanted to immortalize it in a piece of jewelry. Since this week, a beautiful ring from Vedder & Vedder has been adorning my index finger, so I can look at this cute fingerprint every day.

Now, I was never really into those imposed holidays like Valentine's Day (those men should damn well come home with a bouquet of roses every day) or Mother's Day. With an emphasis on ‘was’, because now that I am a mother, I expect quite a bit from my first Mother's Day. A lovely breakfast in bed, a homemade ‘drawing’ (two scratches on a piece of paper is enough) from Otis, and a sweet gift to celebrate motherhood. Well, I came home from a cold fair: it turns out Jon is abroad! I forgive him, since this second Sunday in May is a new thing, so I call my mother to ask what time she expects us for the traditional Mother's Day dinner that evening. She is also abroad! So it will be making sandwiches myself and cuddling with Otis all day and night on the couch, which isn't bad either. As a consolation, I ordered these cute Donsje shoes for Otis, for which you now get a Rituals package for Mother's Day. So there will still be a gift waiting for me on Sunday.

As soon as the sun starts shining in our country, everyone suffers from ‘summer fever’: all my WhatsApp messages are about who is lying in the sun all day and whether beach trips are being planned. With Otis in our lives, I share that summer fever more than ever. Together with my dear mother, I immediately planned a trip to Noordwijk aan Zee, including a night at hotel Vesper. You cross the road and you're on the beach, but their own terrace is so nice that we didn't get any further. Add to that the delicious dinner menu, and hours later we rolled sleepily from the sun into our bed. A big tip for anyone heading that way soon: the Azzurro Beauty spa completes your stay with a relaxing massage or facial. My mother thought it was one of the best facials ever!

Our men always hold their hearts (and credit cards) when I go out with my friend Evelyne. Whenever we are together, something is always purchased that we think we absolutely cannot do without. And preferably an item that is hardly available anymore, so the happiness is greatest when we manage to get it anyway. Our last quest was for the Fila Disruptors, and in the end, we found them through a store in Germany (the fact that I have a half size smaller because they weren't available otherwise is beside the point). So when I got a tester of the exclusive Gray Label perfume in my hands last week and it smelled heavenly, I could only think of one person who would undoubtedly want to confiscate this scent just as quickly as I would. This time, no difficult online search sessions; we were quick enough. On to our next must-have.
