Detoxing without juice

So I went to Africa, on a detox and yoga retreat. Of course, I was really looking forward to it, but one thing I was less excited about was the liters of juices that I would be served on location. Nothing could be further from the truth. The weekend was indeed focused on detoxing, but we were served the tastiest dishes. The greenest vegetables, the freshest fish, and yes, also the most colorful juices. All lovingly prepared from our own garden. Do you want to give your body a boost, but don't feel like going on a juice cleanse? By simply incorporating a number of ingredients into your meals, detox you, but you still have something tasty to chew on.

Onion

An onion is not only the base of your favorite meal, it contains sulfur compounds, flavonoids, and antioxidants that have a highly beneficial effect on your body and skin. They contain a lot of fiber, which we desperately need to keep our intestines as healthy as possible.

Beets

Beets contain a lot of iron and calcium, as well as the antioxidant betaine, which among other things transforms and repairs cells in the liver. And the liver just happens to be our body's detox organ. The liver blocks all bad influences from the outside and is therefore one of the most important organs our body has. So incorporate that little red vitamin bomb more often in a salad or throw it in the blender and make a juice with it.

Garlic

Like the onion, this fragrant bulb is known to be good for your immune system, which means you get sick and catch colds less often.

In addition, garlic promotes healthy heart and blood vessels and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Green vegetables

Green vegetables, especially leafy greens, are super healthy thanks to a high concentration of antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Filling your plate in the evening with a large portion of spinach, kale, Brussels sprouts, or broccoli helps your body detox.

Yogurt

Yogurt has the perfect combination of proteins, probiotics, and healthy fats. Those probiotics keep your intestines healthy, and healthy intestines are important for good immunity. So start your day more often with a bowl of yogurt or quark.

Ginger

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and aids in good digestion. The essential oil found in ginger root causes the body to produce more white blood cells. These blood cells fight infections and viruses that enter our body. The spicy substance promotes the production of stomach acid, kills parasites, and keeps the large intestine healthy. Replace your tea bag more often with some slices of fresh ginger.

Carrots

Carrots are one of the most powerful detoxifiers among vegetables. They are not only good for your eyes, but they are also good for your heart and contribute to an overall improvement of your immune system.

Celery

This green stalk has a diuretic function and breaks down fat. Celery not only cleanses your body from the inside, but you also nibble your way to being slim. Now that's good news.

Sunflower seeds

The small seed ensures that your heart keeps pumping regularly and also keeps your blood pressure in check. A handful in your yogurt in the morning or as a snack around four o'clock is enough for your body.

Green tea

Originally, green tea was already used in China and India as a medicine for the heart, to speed up digestion, and to heal wounds. But that's not all. Green tea helps get rid of the bulge over your jeans and keeps your intestines healthy.
