Lily exposes herself, literally

Being at work and suddenly realizing that you are naked. Sounds like the nightmare you surely had once, right? In the modeling world, it works just a bit differently. Lily tells you everything.

Has anyone ever asked you to take off your shirt so that the wrinkles can be steamed out? What a luxury, I hear you thinking. Someone steaming your clothes, I want that too. Now imagine that you are not at home, but in a studio full of people. Quite a bit strange to take off your shirt in the spotlight and wait a few minutes in your bare mini-boobs until you get the wrinkle-free shirt back.

Things I would have found absurd in the past suddenly seem completely normal. Today I give you a behind-the-scenes look and tell you about the weirdest changing situations that I or my girlfriends have experienced.

The ‘Oops, sorry, I didn’t know you were changing.’

Sometimes you have the luxury of changing in a separate room. Strangely enough, the photographer's assistant keeps coming in to get a glass of water (in that room) when you are pulling down your pants. Oh well, he’s just often thirsty. He couldn’t know that you were just standing there in your bare butt… again.

The ‘If you do it quickly, no one will notice.’

Quickly changing outfits can be done by any model. But a whole camera crew with lights and screens next to the Seine in Paris or in the middle of the Red Light District in Amsterdam strangely attracts some audience. No matter how skillfully you put on the next outfit, the seasoned tourist with a camera knows how to snap a picture just when you pull the shirt over your head.

The ‘I am a backstage photographer.’

Shows are hectic behind the scenes. Everyone is busy. Outfits are being put on, makeup is being touched up, and backstage snapshots are being taken. All fun and games, but when you are standing there in just a thong, it’s quite uncomfortable to suddenly see a camera lens pointed at you. Flash! Nice little photo for later to show your grandchildren someday.

The ‘It’s a professional environment.’

‘Yes, we are indeed staring at your breasts, but with a professional eye. We just want to see if the photo works with this outfit.’ The photographer and stylist discuss my breasts while I stand in front of them. But it’s okay, because it’s about whether it looks good in the photo. Oh, and I don’t have to be ashamed of anything, says the stylist, because they are very beautiful, you know. Wonderful to hear that again later at the table when we go out to dinner with the team after the photoshoot. Nice compliment, I can happily tuck that away.

The ‘Shooting ski clothes in the summer.’

Shooting bikinis in the cold and winter clothes in the blazing sun is just part of it. Tough luck for you, if you are drenched in sweat in a turtleneck and winter coat together with your fellow model and the stylist decides that it’s better to change outfits. Here you go, colleague, here is the sweater soaked with my sweat. Thank you, colleague, for your sweater that smells worse than a sumo wrestler in the sauna. Wonderful to exchange some bodily fluids with a person you just met that morning. Besties for life.
