Dip your chip

I still remember it like it was yesterday. As a little girl, I could look forward to the weekend all week long – because who wouldn't? And especially to the Friday night that my mother and I had labeled as ‘cozy evening’. When my three older siblings brothers started getting ready around eight o'clock for a night out at the disco, I would snuggle up to my mother with a bag of chips and a bowl of dip. The kind that comes from a small bag. A spoonful of mayo, a dollop of yogurt, but then for the finishing touch, a bit of fresh parsley on top. Just stir it a bit and you had the perfect match with your paprika chip. Got a cozy evening planned too? Here are the dips you want to dip your chip in.  Without a bag then, right.

Paprika feta (Bugles, regular ridged chips)

  • 2 grilled peppers from a jar
  • 150 grams of feta
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ras el hanout

1. Put the feta together with the lemon juice and the spices in the blender.
2. Mix everything and add the peppers last. Pulse a few more times until the peppers are almost completely blended.

Italian dip (regular ridged chips, paprika or Bugles)

  • 6 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • 2 basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder

1. Put all the ingredients in the blender and mix until you have a smooth sauce.

Spicy cream dip (regular ridged chips, nachos)

  • 200 grams of Philadelphia
  • 100 grams of Greek yogurt
  • 4 tbsp chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro

1. Put all the ingredients except the cilantro in the blender. Mix until you have a smooth sauce.
2. Top with the cilantro.

Parsley dip (Doritos, Bugles)

  • 200 grams of soaked cashews
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 150 ml plant-based milk
  • a handful of parsley
  • a handful of chopped chives

1. Put the cashews with the garlic and the milk in the blender and mix until the nuts are completely ground.
2. Add the parsley and pulse a bit more until the parsley is almost finely chopped.
3. Top with the chopped chives.

Creamy avocado dip (Doritos, Bugles, prawn crackers)

  • 2 avocados
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • juice of half a lime
  • piece of red pepper

1. Put all the ingredients in the blender and mix until you have a smooth sauce.

Spicy salsa (nachos, Bugles)

  • 1 small red onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • can of diced tomatoes
  • pinch of salt
  • fresh coriander

1. Finely chop the onion and put it in a bowl.
2. Put the tomato, garlic, ketchup, cumin, chili powder, and salt in the blender and pulse briefly.
3. Add the mixture to the onion and stir together.
4. Top with the chopped cilantro.
