Evers steps down
Edje, why? Why? It's the question that has occupied my mind for the past hour. After 21 years of waking up together, you're going to leave me. You're stopping. Evers is stepping down. And that's something I find difficult. It's weighing heavily on me.
Evers just announced this himself and calls it ‘the hardest decision ever’, but indicates that he is ready for another life and ‘a bit more air.’ ‘I need a life that is a little less dictated by the clock.’ After more than two decades of morning radio, you want to think about the future and look forward to a life where you have more space and freedom to engage in writing and making music. Fortunately, you don't rule out a new radio adventure.
And Edwin, I actually understand that to some extent. I too stand next to my bed every morning before Amsterdam wakes up, and I sometimes wonder why I can't just turn over ten more times and skip the gym for a morning. So I can imagine that you'll have quite a few hours of sleep to catch up on and that you'll enjoy long sleep-in sessions and warm croissants under the covers.
Fortunately for us, this is still a far-from-our-bed show. Until the end of this year, we can still wake up with you. Thank goodness. And who will take over from Evers will be announced soon.
