At last: wine but no headaches
A small survey at the lunch table showed that we were a hangover at times can appreciate. Lounging on the sofa is legal AND you can dig the bottomless pit (stomach) with snacks from the chip shop. We get the most embarrassing hangovers from wine, by the way, but there is now a solution to that.
Did I used to tap headache-free a bottle of wine away, which now only works out for bottles over 40 euros. Not because I'm spoilt, by the way. To cheap wine, winemakers add sulphite, a preservative they make from sulphur. I already get a headache at the idea of useful sulphur, so it all sounds logical so far. But the headache wine is history, done, see you never again.
Scientists at the HAS in Den Bosch - such a brilliant plan must come from burgundy soil - created an alternative to the chemical sulphite in wine. Together with the company Natural4Sure, they developed Sure, a liquid extract of lemon balm and a mixture of herbs that replaces sulphite ánd ensures less banging, banging and wiggling in the cranium the day after. By the way, sulphite has not been scientifically proven to be the man with the hammer, but experts claim it is. The sweeter the wine, the more sulphite, the worse the pain. Hence, lesson one in drinking wine is: never drink sweet.
The first 6,500 bottles are ready for the cork to pop. I take a glass in advance and toast to bottles of wine without headaches.
