You know the feeling: tomorrow you have an uber-important presentation at work or that long-awaited first date with a super handsome guy you've had your eye on for a while, and suddenly you feel a burning spot on your chin... The next day you wake up and are shocked to see in the mirror: a huge pimple with its own heartbeat and postcode has decided to take up residence on your normally flawless face today. I am truly blessed with good skin and take good care of it to keep it that way, but it always seems that at the moments when you really can't afford any imperfections on your face, a lovely zit appears out of the blue on your forehead or chin. I could have cried when I looked in the mirror the day before my wedding and spotted a white head on my forehead, and now I've been trying for days not to touch my chin where there is currently a super painful under-the-skin bump residing, while I'm filming right now.

As tempting as it is: try to stay away from it at all costs! Even though I dutifully use tissues just like the beautician, you often press a pimple too hard yourself, damaging your skin and possibly leaving scars. Especially for you, I asked the best anti-pimple tips from a makeup artist, model and beautician. Happy pimple hunting!

Tea Tree Oil roll-on

This miracle product should be applied as soon as you feel the pimple coming up, and it stands no chance of success. Just make sure to use the diluted version, as the pure oil can actually cause a rash.

Clinique Anti-Blemish Clearing Concealer

Our makeup artist swears by this. It helps to dry out the pimple from the inside and makes it disappear like snow in the sun.

Louis Widmer Acnecare Cream

This nice little tube is in my own drawer for those sporadic outbreak moments. Apply a generous layer before going to bed, and with a bit of luck, you can nip that pimple in the bud.

Toothpaste

The cheapest and perhaps the most commonly used trick. Dries out the pimple, but often leaves a small scab behind for me.
