Help, my eye is going crazy and twitching
As I am checking out pump number three around nine o'clock in the morning, it suddenly starts. I glance at the guy behind the counter to see if he notices it too, but he doesn't flinch. Well, mine was completely out of control. It had a life of its own and I could do nothing about it. I quickly waved my debit card against the contactless strip and tried to suppress the angry eye in the meantime.
My eye is twitching. To be more precise: my eyelid. For a whole week. A whole gi-gantic week. Simone once explained to us in detail that this ailment is called facial myokymia. Of course, I had never heard of it in my life. It seems to be simple: a muscle in your eye contracts so quickly and relaxes again so fast that you get a twitching eyelid. This often happens so quickly that others don't see it. Look, that makes it all just a bit less embarrassing, but the fact remains that it twitches. Quickly. And that leads to situations...
I had seven appointments on this Tuesday. Yes, seven. So by the time you get to appointment number four, you definitely need to pay attention to everything, you might start to twitch a bit, and then your right eyelid twitches too. It's a strange word for something by your eye, a lid. And in frequency, it twitches just often enough to completely distract me from the content. So now you know, about that appointment around two o'clock: I was probably with my head near my eye and in this case, that was not a good sign.
How it comes or might possibly come? You get it from stress, from a screaming lack of magnesium, if you sleep too little, drink too much caffeine, and also regularly consume some alcohol. Now, I naturally devour fish, avocado, and green vegetables by the dozen, after all, I'm a millennial and they eat a lot of avocados, so that one is out. And the rest is one big cause and effect happening, which cannot exist without each other. If you drink a lot of coffee, then you sleep poorly. If you sleep poorly, then you want more coffee. If you drink a lot of alcohol, then you sleep poorly again. If you have stress, then you drink more alcohol.
But it's really not so enormous that my eye has to twitch from it. It feels like a disturbance, it makes you dizzy, and I hereby hope that my restless eye behaves exemplary again tomorrow. Twitching eye: out.
