Hiring an interior designer is the best idea ever
Ehm, is a mint green sofa a good idea or not? And where do I put that golden pineapple? Isn't it all getting too hysterical? And Sanders‘ and my taste differ quite a bit, how do we ’meet halfway'? And what colors do we slap on the wall for heaven's sake? There were questions, everywhere. So a friend suggested the idea of hiring an interior stylist.
“Yeah right, that's totally exaggerated and expensive?”, was my first reaction. By now I know better. Since Georgia (from Georgia Interior Design) came into my life, I have peace. And a freaking cool house, more on that later. Why do I recommend it to everyone?
It doesn't cost what you think it costs
Time to immediately blow the big prejudice out of the water: you really don't have to be rich to hire an interior stylist. On the contrary, working with the right person actually saves you money, saves you time, and can protect you from impulsive decisions you make along the way.
If your tastes are not the same...
Living together with your love? And both having completely different tastes? Then the little irritations quickly come to the surface. Thank god there are people on earth who have studied to make one whole out of two tastes without any sour faces.
Your taste develops in a good way
The standard Ikea furniture has made way for a design item here and there and lo and behold, indeed: it looks damn good. A good interior architect or stylist can perfectly empathize with your taste and come up with creative ideas that you would never think of yourself. For example, I had ugly heating pipes in the guest room and Georgia suggested painting them gold. Everyone who enters that room now asks how we came up with that cool idea...
Getting a nice whole is still quite tricky
Look at it this way: decorating a house is a profession. Choosing that sofa and dining table often works out, but the moment a rug and a color on the wall come into play, the problems arise. Have you tried everything and can't create the right atmosphere? Enter: project interior stylist. You can thank me later.
P.S.: When our little nest is really finished, there will definitely be a home tour. First, I still need to finalize the last details with Georgia. This. Will. Be. Leuheukkkk.
