How is it with Richard Gere?

Well, he has THIS Bed and Breakfast

Is it also your fantasy? That later you would run such a small eight-room B&B? A bit of making jam, playing classical music, chatting with the guests, tasting the homemade pies that your cook has made again today, and from around five o'clock sitting on the porch waving at the guests returning from their outings.

That indeed. It just shows what a good match I would have been with Richard Gere (although my husband is of course a hundred times more fun), because he has it: a bed and breakfast.

Together with his then-wife (Russell Hernandez, from Law & Order, you know) he rode on a horse and together they passed Bedford Post Inn. Richard bought it and renovated it into an intimate, stylish bed and breakfast. There are eight rooms, two restaurants (one casual, one fancier) that are praised by locals. When you eat there, you are also among the locals. There is a yoga studio and plenty of nature. But New York is just an hour's drive away. And there are famous neighborhoods. It could very well be that you Martha Stewart see potatoes being harvested with which she will later stamp her wooden parquet. Or that you see Ralph Lauren in a colored Polo shirt bouncing by on a horse. Just because clichés are sometimes exactly what you need.

How much does it cost?

Not little, of course. For a room, you pay between 500 and 700 dollars per night. But as my friend R always says: better too expensive than not for sale.

When are we going?
