Losing weight is harder for short women than for tall women

If you always have to get your pants shortened and can't reach the top shelf in the supermarket without help from someone else, that can be quite difficult.
But there seems to be even more unfortunate news for shorter women. They would find it harder to lose weight than taller people. Goodness, as if that wasn't enough. How come? It has everything to do with your metabolism. Suppose you would stay in bed all day, then a tall lanky person would still burn a neat 1400 calories. If someone who is 1.52 meters or even shorter does this, they only burn 1200 calories in a whole day. Quite unfair. This is because shorter people generally need less energy and therefore burn less energy. Whether you are active or not, you burn fewer calories.
What is also annoying: you notice more quickly that you have gained weight if you are short than if you are tall. Logical, because your fat has less space to go to if you are a size XS. And if you are a size L, your fat spreads more over your long body. Silly, but true. Short people can therefore lose weight less easily AND you also notice it faster if you have gained some weight.
Well, fortunately, there are also many advantages to being petite. For example, you can wear nice heels and still not tower over your man . And if you are very tall, it can be quite difficult to find an even taller man who can walk next to you in a dignified manner. And you fit in any bed. And you can shop in the children's department, which is often much cheaper. Just to name a few, huh.
