Original city trips for your date
Maybe a bit premature for a first date, but have you had date 3, 4, 5? Seriously got yourself some boy- or girlfriend material? Then it's time for the ultimate test: traveling together. Well, at least a city trip. There's no better way to check if this flame is a keeper than to explore the world together.
Where are we going? Lexa has a Dating Map
full of cool cities and hotspots to visit with your date. Of course, the classics like London and Paris are included, but to keep it original, I choose a few newcomers to the list. Where are you going with your love this summer? Here you go.
Puglia
May has a second home there and I understand why. The region is bursting with beautiful towns, the sea is never far away, and the climate couldn't be better. Not in the mood for an average hotel? Book an old-school trullo! Sleeping in such a simple limestone, cone-shaped house is an experience and guarantees the real sultry nights.
Zakynthos
Okay, maybe a little biased because I met my lover there (ha, see, holiday romances are the best) but Zakynthos is the place to be this summer if you're looking for a paradise island within Europe. Perfect for a weekend getaway with your new flame. Oh, and if you're heading that way, don't forget to visit Cameo Island. You get there via a rope bridge and hey, let that be a nice Insta pic of you two together.
Cologne
Come on. Cologne is so much more than just a Christmas market. Go lounge at KM696 Cologne to create the ultimate city beach combination. You immediately have a great view of the old city while chilling on your sunbed among the palm trees.
Belfast
Move over Dublin, Belfast is where you want to be this summer. An immediate romantic first weekend away? Book a room at the Blackhead Lighthouse. The house by the lighthouse offers an amazing view over Belfast. Snuggle up together and marvel in the morning from your warm bed at the sun slowly rising over the water. I say go for it.
Seville
Seen Barcelona and Valencia? Head to Sevilla with your date. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Oh, and if you're going that way: definitely eat at Bar T de Triana. Nothing beats this location, right by the river.
Nice
Nice = naisss. Did I already mention that Nice is the new Paris? Because you don't have to ‘do’ much but can do everything, you can see and do a lot in Nice in a few days without feeling like you're running around. Make sure to head to the beach in St. Jean Cap Ferrat together. Lay out your towel, enjoy some bubbles together, and do nothing more.
Lisbon
The old-fashioned trams, the little streets to get lost in together, clinking cocktails at that rooftop bar, and happily searching for your hotel bed. Sigh. I want to go back to Lisbon. You can't leave the city without having tasted Pastéis de Belém together. Do you hear me? Really not just.
Feeling like heading out right now? Don't hesitate, just book that trip! There's no better test than stepping onto the plane together. Prefer to hit the road together? Check this road trip route. Bon voyage!
